Kentucky State University’s Center for Family Nutrition and Wellness Education application conducted a Rookie Cooking Camp (RCC) in the Rowan County Health Center conference room. RCC is a software designed for middle and excessive college students to introduce them to cooking techniques, meal protection measures, and simple nutrition standards.

The three-day camp started with Chef Mike Montes from Aramark at St. Claire Regional Medical Center demonstrating knife skills and protection. Brianna Fannin, Gateway District Health Department environmentalist, provided meal safety pointers.

Each day, the students assisted in meal practice of wholesome food alternatives. The remaining day ended with a meal prepared and served with the aid of the scholars for their family and buddies, using recipes, table manners, and place placing they discovered during the camp. The seven students completing the center received an apron, varied cooking utensils and chocolates, and certificates of crowning glory at the side of wholesome recipes and cooking ideas.

Kentucky State University’s Center for Family Nutrition and Wellness Education is placed in the Morehead-Rowan County Visitor Center and the Chamber of Commerce workplace within the old Railroad Depot, 150 E. First Street, Suite C, is part of the Kentucky State University Extension Program. KSU Extension Office Staff consists of Gullett and Rachel Price, SNAP-Ed Program Assistant, and Gullett. Price and Gullett thanked all the students for collaborating inside the Rookie Cooking Camp and their mother and father for transporting them to the camp.

Price and Gullett prolonged a unique way to volunteer Catherine Johnson Hedges for supporting all three days and Jessica Reed-Brown, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein County SNAP-Ed Program Assistant, for helping with the meal practice for the households and easing up the 1/3 day, and Rowan County Health Center’s group of workers and board for the usage of the power.

Start small. You don’t introduce healthy consumption by overhauling your menu someday. Help your youngsters regulate their tastes byby regularly introducing healthy diet meals. Start with the aid of the use of more healthy sandwich spreads or adding fruit to their lunch container. As they learn to like new foods, they will ask for more. Let them assist out. Kids will respect meals more if they can see how they come together. Take them grocery shopping, let them select their result, and have them help with dinner a few times per week. Keep a lively mood, so it is more like a laugh hobby than housework.
